Jomy & HFL Take On Orlando: Come Join Us!
The Perfect Day In Orlando
The secret is out: not only is Orlando, FL one of the most popular travel destinations, but it’s also the perfect place to settle down.
Located in the heart of Central Florida, Orlando is home to over a dozen theme parks and ranks as the 4th largest city in the beautiful sunshine state. Beyond the gates of the “happiest place on earth,” you’ll find small town living within big city life.
From the multitude of lakes and outdoor activities to the diverse culture of the city to the incredible food scene, Orlando has it all and then some. To give you an inside look into what it’s like living in this wonderful city, we’ve partnered up with local mommy blogger and beauty guru Jomy Leon-Rivera to join her for the “perfect day” in Orlando.
Get To Know A Bit About Jomy (@love_jomy)
My name is Jomy and I was born and raised in Orlando, FL. I am happily married to my high school sweetheart and we have a beautiful baby boy named Judah and the sweetest Labradoodle named Teddy. I am a local content creator who shares all things beauty, fashion, and lifestyle. We recently moved back from Texas and picked up where we left off in Orlando. I truly love living in Orlando because there is so much to do! From the beautiful parks and fun attractions to the delicious food scene, there’s so much to love.
Ready to join us for the perfect day in Orlando? Let’s go!
First stop: Deeply Coffee.
Nestled into the corner space of a downtown building within two blocks of Lake Eola, you’ll find Deeply Coffee. In business since early summer 2018, Deeply Coffee offers what Jomy considers the “best coffee and baked goods” in a bright, energetic atmosphere. Whether you’d prefer a traditional Americano, want to be a bit daring and try the Lavender Honey Nut Cheerio M*lk Latte or Jomy’s favorite — the Matcha Latte — you can’t go wrong. Don’t forget to add a chocolate banana muffin, or two (one for now and one for later), to your order.
Next stop: Lake Eola.
In the midst of the hustle and bustle of downtown Orlando, we have the ever-popular Lake Eola. One of the favorite hangout spots for Orlandeans, Lake Eola boasts a scenic view of the downtown area. Whether you’re out for a quick stroll like Jomy loves to take with her son Judah, an afternoon picnic or are wanting to get your heart rate up with a run along the 0.9-mile trail, Lake Eola is the ideal spot. During the week, it’s nice to be able to sit and soak in the amazing Florida weather while enjoying the calmness of the city. On the weekends, if you’re looking for a fun, lively place to check out, Lake Eola just so happens to be the hub of city events, from the Orlando Farmers Market to art festivals and more.
All Aboard: We’re Headed to Pig Floyd’s.
Servin’ up all things from BBQ to tacos and everything in-between since 2013, Pig Floyd’s is the fusion restaurant you never knew you were missing in your life. In their mission to create vibrant, delicious BBQ, they’ve combined cultural influences with traditional fire, smoke, and pit methods. The result? Mouth-watering goodness that’ll keep you coming back time and time again. Even better, Pig Floyd’s has set up great COVID-Safe precautions including the ability to order online, so you can easily do take-out or curbside pickup. The only dilemma? Figuring out what to order online from their unbelievably good mix of menu items. This time around, we’ll take 1 Pork Belly Taco, 1 Butter Chicken Taco and 1 Vaca Tahkaw Taco. Oh yeah, for sides, we’ll have an order of the maduros, jasmine rice with Cuban black beans and the fresh seasoned pork rinds with 1 Coca Cola Real please. One word: yum!
Jump In: Time For A Quick Treat From Black Bean Deli.
If you’re looking for the perfect afternoon pick me up, look no further than Black Bean Deli. Bringing authentic Cuban food to the Orlando community since 2002, Black Bean Deli has become a staple joint for many locals. In an effort to preserve Cuban traditions, Black Bean Deli has stuck to its roots and has focused on keeping family recipes alive by sharing these traditional dishes with whomever walks through the café doors. While you can’t go wrong with any item on the menu, Jomy always finds herself ordering a café con leche with oat milk, quesitos and a chicken empanada.
That’s a wrap for our perfect day in Orlando with Jomy!
